This is my interview with Jia Wertz.
Jia is a documentary filmmaker and a featured writer for Forbes, she is also the founder and fashion designer of Studio 15,which is a socially responsible fashion brand. After leaving behind a 15-year career in the corporate fashion world, she started a company that focuses on doing good and supporting women. It’s Studio 15’s mission to promote and collaborate with other female-owned businesses and to support female entrepreneurs in developing countries through a partnership with Kleos MFG, a non-profit organization.
Jia is from Calgary, Alberta and currently lives in New York City with her husband and son. She is a graduate of New York Film Academy. “Conviction” is her debut film.
Conviction (2002) is a short documentary about the wrongful arrest, conviction and eventual exoneration of Jeffrey Deskovic. Who was only 17 when he began a 15 to life sentence. Jeffrey served 16 years before he was exonerated by dna evidence that was already known but failed to be brought into evidence.
